Once again this summer Jordan’s Farm in Cape Elizabeth has been donating fresh produce weekly to the South Portland Food Cupboard. Penny Jordan was instrumental in raising funds for low-income seniors (similar to the former “Farm Share “Program) to purchase fresh produce from their farm. As our cupboard consists of low-income seniors and low income adults and families, she was also able to raise funds to supply us with produce too.

The number of low-income men, women, and children increases monthly. We have 110 men and women who are between the ages of 60 and 90 who frequent our cupboard each month, many do not have vehicles to drive to a farm stand.
We also deliver to 15 elderly women who are incapacitated. This fresh produce is such a treat for them.

Our cupboard serves between 375 and 400 low income men, women and children a month. We are truly grateful for this fresh produce and to Penny for thinking of us again.
