Letter: Family finds room for kittens in need (Printed May 4, 2007)

Editor:
I recently put an ad in the lost and found [section of the Sentry] regarding a black cat that had been staying around our home for many weeks. We cared for her then after awhile found out she was very much pregnant. This was through the winter months, so we brought her into our home to make sure she was ok. Then on Patriots’ Day, she could not be found anywhere. After two nights of searching and afraid that she was hurting somewhere, we found her and her five kittens in our back shed all safe and sound. We bought them into the house and mother and babes are doing well.
My son Malcolm and his wife Cindy will now adopt the mother who we have named Lulu. I will keep one kitten that is almost identical to my 18 year old cat who passed away last year (it seems fate has stepped in here) and the other four will be going to wonderful, caring people (one going to my daughter Mary, her husband Chris and twins Sophia and Abe who live on Chrystal Lake. The other three [are going] to family friends.
We have many pictures of this wonderful little family. The only reply I got from my ad in your paper was from a lady who cared enough to suggest that if no one claimed them she would take them to the animal shelter, but we told her that we have adopted them into our family. We contacted neighbors weeks ago but she had no takers. I cannot understand how anyone can abandon such a loving young cat. She only seems to be about one year old. If the past owner recognizes this black cat that was missing from their home all winter they can rest assured she and her babies are well taken care of.
