Letter, "Arthritis disables young and old," (Printed May 11, 2007)
Editor:
On Saturday, May 19, the Arthritis Foundation will host its annual fund-raising walk along the Greenbelt in South Portland. Registrations will begin at 9 a.m. at the South Portland Boys & Girls Club [on eastern Broadway] with walk beginning at 10 a.m. from that location.
As the parent of a young child who was diagnosed with arthritis, I feel it is important to get the word out that arthritis is not an illness of just the elderly and that it is the number one cause of disability in the country. Along with our legislators, we have been working to get the Arthritis Prevention, Control & Cure Act passed so arthritis is not something everyone needs to face.
Please join us on Saturday, May 19. For more information, please call either (800) 639-2113 or 767-4398. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Victoria Russell
