Letter: Storm clean-up show city takes service seriously (Printed June 8, 2007)
Editor:
We would like to thank whomever decided for the City of South Portland to pick up the fallen tree trunks, limbs, and branches from the major spring storm that left so much damage in the area. Collecting this debris was a huge effort for the city, and we couldn’t appreciate it more. We had two gigantic loads, and we would have to have paid a considerable sum to hire someone with a truck to take them away for us.
We remember a letter in [another newspaper] not too long ago from a senior Cumberland resident, who listed the towns/cities that were picking up the storm debris, and bemoaned the fact that Cumberland had decided not to do so. Seniors too, we were thinking that we were glad to be residents of South Portland.
Thank you so much,
Jeffrey and Bette Roberts
