Letter: My vote is for Bliss (May 30, 2008)
Editor:
I am writing this letter in support of Larry Bliss’ candidacy in Maine Senate District 7, which includes parts of Scarborough, all of South Portland and Cape Elizabeth.
I have known Larry for over 10 years. He has lived in Senate District 7 for nearly 20 years and is acutely aware of the issues facing our communities.
Larry has the right mix of public and private work experience that will continue to serve him well in Augusta. During his eight years in the House, Larry has put people first, sponsoring numerous consumer protection laws. He is a strong supporter of small businesses and improving the Maine economy. Larry has introduced legislation for major tax reform, reducing property taxes and reducing exemptions in sales taxes. He has also helped bring millions of dollars in education funding to our school systems above the governor’s original budgets.
Significantly, Larry has protected Maine’s environment, sponsoring legislation to protect and improve lake water quality and led the fight for the passage of the RGGI greenhouse gas initiative.
Larry has a keen sense of working with legislators from all parties in building a consensus on important issues for his district and the state of Maine. I know that Larry will continue to serve with the utmost integrity and tireless work ethic that will benefit all the residents of Senate District 7.
Please join me in supporting Larry Bliss in the Democratic primary June 10.
