Letter: Bliss is strong leader for Maine’s future (June 6, 2008)
Editor:
Maine is facing many challenges and will continue to be forced to make tough choices to protect Maine’s people, resources, and environment. These challenges demand strong, intelligent and focused leadership. Larry Bliss has shown such leadership during his legislative service in the Maine House of Representatives.
Larry has championed the critical issues of the day, improved access to affordable health care including enacted insurance reforms that will reduce private insurance rates by up to 40 percent, the authorization of a veteran’s campus to provide a community-based outpatient clinic and hospice facility for Maine’s veterans; as house chairman of the utilities and energy committee, Larry is a strong advocate for environmental preservation and clean, renewable energy by creating low-interest loan programs for geothermal heating units to reduce energy costs, streamlining the process for approving wind turbines, and prohibition of certain commercial vehicles from excessive engine idling to name a few.
Larry knows that to move Maine forward we must support and protect Maine’s families and the economy by taking on the tough issues of the day – tax reform, school funding and improved transportation throughout the state while at the same time providing educational opportunities and a healthy climate for growing a successful green economy that will provide jobs for Maine people.
Larry has proven he can face critical issues and find solutions that will be in the best interests of Maine people and protect Maine’s bounty of natural resources. I encourage you to vote for Larry Bliss for State Senate, strong and proven leadership to ensure Maine’s future.
