Letter: Skillin School Fair offered fun for all (June 6, 2008)
Editor:
The Skillin School community had a wonderful time at the annual Skillin School Fair on Saturday, May 31. The fair this year was all new, every aspect of the fair was something new and refreshing! They had new games, like the Yankees vs. Red Sox bottle knock down (I was aiming for a certain team), they had a football throw, ring toss and some of the old favorites returned like the ever popular cake walk and dime toss. They even had a sideshow music dunk tank with the ever popular janitor Mr. Pete and former Skillin student Olivia Neff-Jendrasko taking one (more like 100) for the team. Like clock work it rained, because that’s what it does on the Skillin School Fair day, but all games and the New England Communications bounce castle were moved inside. It didn’t matter, fun was had by all. Topping off the event was the first annual 1K Fun Run. Students and parents ran the course through the playground, the new walking trail and learning gardens. Parents were cheering loudly as their child crossed the soggy Hannaford Supermarket finish line, the top finishers received trophies and everyone got a gold medal.
All in all I would like to thank everyone who contributed with their time, money and support. The event would have been nothing without each and every person. Whether you baked a cake, you bought a ticket, donated a raffle item or just took time out of your rainy Saturday to bring your child to the fair it made a difference. It was a great day!
