Letter: Consider economy with budget vote (June 27, 2008)
Editor:
I voted against the Cape Elizabeth School Budget.
I love children and I have great respect for education, so my negative vote doesn’t imply otherwise.
I am sure that the school board has worked very, very hard on this budget, and from their perspective, they are more than justified in causing an increase in the high rate of our property taxes.
From my perspective – not so. Obvious reasons being the increase in fuel, gas, food and a general sense of insecurity that now exists in our country.
Well, it looks like my wishes are not going to tip the balance in my favor this time, but I hope in the future, and for a long time in the future, my wishes and others that agree with me will be favored.
These are not good times.
