Letter: Come and celebrate with housing authority Sept. 13 (Aug. 29, 2008)

Editor:

As the South Portland Housing Authority nears our 40th anniversary of serving the needs of our community’s elderly, disabled and low-income population, there is much to celebrate.

From our establishment in 1968, the South Portland Housing Authority has grown today to encompass some 600 residential units. In 40 years, we’ve become a statewide leader in assisting the most economically vulnerable of our citizens.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, we invite the entire community to join us as we celebrate this notable milestone. Join us for an under-the-tent cookout, entertainment and giveaways. Bring your children for face painting, balloons and treats. Learn how other non-profit organizations help those in our city. And, most importantly, help us support the South Portland Food Cupboard by bringing non-perishable foods that will qualify donors for drawings for gift cards at local business.

Drop by Saturday, Sept. 13 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the SPHA headquarters at 51 Landry Circle, off of Westbrook Street, and join the SPHA staff and board members for this exciting cause for celebration.
