Letter: Working with Rep. Bryan Kaenrath was a pleasure (Oct. 3, 2008)
Editor:
South Portland’s District 124 is very lucky to have Rep. Bryan Kaenrath working for them in Augusta, and I strongly urge voters to re-elect him on Nov. 4.
Rep. Kaenrath works hard for the working families in his district and throughout Maine. He voted to increase the minimum wage to $7.70 per hour in 2008 and to $8.40 per hour in 2009 and to cut taxes for all Mainers by more than $140 million.
He supported the successful efforts to protect Maine’s children from toxic chemicals in household products and toys, to prohibit advertising unhealthy foods on school grounds, to protect children from second hand smoke in vehicles, and to assure that children receive a healthy school breakfast if they can’t get one at home.
As a member of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee he helped pass a bipartisan prison consolidation law that will make our prison system more efficient and cost effective. He also voted in favor of investing in Maine’s transportation infrastructure to support Maine’s continued economic growth, create thousands of jobs, and to keep our roads and bridges safe.
It was a pleasure serving with Rep. Kaenrath and I look forward to working with him again next session on the important issues facing our communities.
