Letter: Let’s compromise on issue, finally (Oct. 31, 2008)
Editor:
It was with certain degree of surprise that I read Mr. LaBrie’s impassioned plea for sharing Willard Beach with the dogs half the time. Of course, humans use the beach any time they want but to finally have someone suggest that there be an equitable split between when dogs and people are allowed on the beach is a fine idea. I suppose the most equitable system to implement this would be to, say, flip a coin to see if dogs are going to be allowed there in January, or not, and then doing alternate months throughout the year. Allowing the dogs access to run on a summer’s day is something they haven’t been able to do in years and I heartily endorse such an enlightened, mixed use solution to a controversy that has dragged on far too long.
