    I cannot believe all of the controversy that a small group of dog haters has created over Willard Beach. Is this the same Willard Beach where three large sewer pipes drain directly into the water? The beach where the largest pipe is about 30 feet from the playground and at low tide spews sewerage with a nauseating odor? I am a long time Willard area resident. I have walked three different dogs on this beach. I raised a daughter here and always went to Ferry Beach or Scarborough Beach to swim and sun bathe because of the rotting seaweed and dirty water at Willard. The biggest health and safety issues should be the sewerage running off from the streets and sidewalks of South Portland, not dogs. As far as I am concerned, Willard Beach is fit for dogs only, no humans.
