Letter: Lane width serious issue to consider (Dec. 5, 2008)

Editor:

The problem I want to talk about today is important and solving this problem can save people. I want to talk about roads, but not about condition of roads which is still problem also, I would like to talk about lanes.

In my opinion roads and lanes are not wide enough to fit cars. In present days we have a lot of trucks running on our roads and they are wider than cars. Sometimes when I’m driving my Volvo on a two lane narrow road and a big truck is near me, there is not enough space for two of us. I have to pull my car either to curve of the road or drive into the oncoming lane to keep distance between me and truck.

Also, trucks take a lot of space on the road even when they are parked on a curve. It is not possible to drive straight, because an accident can happen. In my opinion the road department should make some rules about safe truck traffic.
