Letter: So much knowledge at your finger tips in the U.S. (Dec. 5, 2008)

Editor:

It was the winter 2005 when I arrived in U.S.A. I didn’t have a lot of information about U.S.A. in my first week in Salt Lake City, Utah; I saw a lot of new things. One of those things that I liked was the system of the libraries and what they offered.

The public library in U.S.A is a source for information. There are thousands of books, hundreds of computers, and other materials that helps U.S. citizens to increase their knowledge. Almost all American citizens can benefit from these gifts, but the question is, how many people are using this gift?

As a student at SMCC, I was born in Africa, and back in my home town there are no public libraries. Often, people have opportunities – they don’t always think how fortunate they are, while others are looking for the chance.

We have an expression that says “you will feel the good fortune of the opportunity when you lose it” and my saying is “before I lose this opportunity, I will value the library every day, and encourage others to do the same.”
