Letter: Staff helped spread special message (March 6, 2009)

Editor:

Once again, employees and volunteers in the media department do great work. Tony Vigue, Moe Amaral, and volunteer, Beth Allen contributed their time and energy to the English Language Learners from SMCC. These young adults worked hard to produce meaningful and powerful speeches. Tony, Moe and Beth dedicated time and attention to help them feel comfortable and valued in this endeavor.

I thank them for their commitment to this city and to those young adults who are learning how to be connected to community as well. I would also thank John Bernard, David Soule, Richard Romeo and Walter Corey – friends who took time out of their busy day to come to city hall to listen to my students present their final projects.

I hope many of you had an opportunity to hear them on the SPTV channel. If so, I am sure you would have witnessed the power of their words and the depth of their experiences. Stay tuned...more coming this spring.
