Band concert brightened day
Editor:
I am an international student in SMCC and I am living in South Portland. This is my second month in U.S. I had chance to go to the auditorium and enjoyed Memorial and Mahoney Band Concert last week because my cousin performed this day.
It was organized by South Portland Music Boosters. I really liked it. It was very harmonious and awesome. The students’ parents had a chance to meet together. They shared their experiences about the way they have managed and educated their children. Many families had an occasion to enjoy together. Moreover students had fun on this day; they could make friends who had the same music hobby. They played a lot of music with many kinds of instruments. This made me very interested. I saw my cousin’s smile was so joyful and satisfied when his group finished their turn. I know how he expected to perform his turn. That seemed that every student had the same emotion.
A short concert was enough to connect the people together. I hope this concert will be organized more and more in the future so that the students in South Portland have more activities to enjoy after studying at school.

Bus service is asset to community
Editor:
I take a bus to school everyday. I live in South Portland, which has a good bus service. Because of the harsh weather I sometimes have to call to South Portland bus service first before I go to wait at bus stop. People who work there are really nice, friendly and sympathetic.
I consider that taking the bus is really helpful, easy movement. From big street to small road from hospitals to schools to post offices or malls, buses can run throughout. In addition, tickets are inexpensive. If you are students, under 17 and old people just spend 50 cents for one ride. You can get transfer paper for next ride. In my opinion that would be great that you lightly save money and relaxing when taking the bus. Furthermore, it reduce a lot bad atmosphere if people take bus to move.
Sometimes buses can come to your bus stop a little bit late but please don’t be that way you get upset. When you get in the bus you will see how friendly and nice the bus drivers act to you.
Although they say something in common such as “Good morning, how are you today?” “Thank you, have a good day” Or some thing like that, you will be glad after waiting for it.
I hope more people take bus and more buses to serve for more people. One person takes a bus, a little more makes the earth clear.
