MEMORY OR THIEVERY?

Police met with a Scott Dyer Road resident who said jewelry was missing from their home. Later in the investigation it became unclear whether the items were stolen or had been misplaced, officers said.

BACK DOOR BURGLARS

Officers arrived at a vacant building on Scott Dyer Road and discovered three people inside the building by a rear exit. There was no sign of damage to the building but three citations for criminal trespassing were issued.

WHAT A ST-EEL

Officers filed a report of theft when 14 eel traps were stolen from a Fowler Road residence. Officers say the traps were estimated to cost $35 each.

WITHOUT A PADDLE

Police are investigating the theft of a canoe from a South Portland resident who was visiting Great Pond. Officers say they have a suspect but have not made any arrests.

BOOZE BURGLAR

Police filed a report of theft when a man walked into a store on Main Street and stole a six pack of beer and two 40-ounce alcoholic malt beverages. Officers say they have no suspects.

OUTFOXED

Animal control officers responded to reports of a fox on Front Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the animal’s hind legs were broken. Police say the animal was “dispatched.”
