Recount confirms winner
Alan Livingston officially won South Portland’s District 5 School Board Seat after Monday’s recount.
A recount was requested by Tappan Fitzgerald, who lost the race by 13 votes after results were tallied Nov. 3.
According to the South Portland city clerk’s office, the final tally for the race was 4,174 votes for Livingston and 4,149 votes for Fitzgerald, a difference of 25 votes.
They city ran out of municipal ballots after an unexpectedly high turnout for voters during last week’s election. South Portland photocopied the ballots so election volunteers had to hand count the photocopied ballots.
