English language learners to deliver speeches this week - Dec. 30, 2009

SMCC students, who are English Language Learners, have just completed their final project: public speeches delivered at South Portland City Hall in December before a live audience. These young men and women come from eight different countries and speak, collectively, 22 different languages. Their challenges have been many, but their voices speak to what they value most in life.
They speak about gratitude, acceptance, forgiveness, family, encouragement, peace and the power of voice.
Thanks to Tony Vigue and Moe Amaral of SPTV,  these students will have their speeches aired on Channel 2/public cable at the following times: Jan. 1 at 7 p.m., Jan. 2 at 2:45 p.m.; Jan. 4 and Jan.7 at 3:30 p.m. and again on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
